    My expectations were raised by all the excellent reviews, but my visit was quite disappointing. The server was abrupt, never checked if my food was okay, and didn't ever refill my drink. He didn't even ask what kind of sauce I wanted on my smothered burrito, so I ended up with green even though the picture on the menu was red. I had the carne asade smothered burrito, and most of it was pretty decent, but the meat had so much gristle that I was pulling bits out of every mouthful. I have to give them props for the salsa bar. All the ones I tried were very good.

    One of best if not the best Mexican food in town. Everything was fresh and authentic. I would recommend them to anyone. Staff is friendly and speaks english.

    Guess what! I got a fever and the only prescription us more carne asada burrito! I'm addicted. Probably the best carne asada burrito I've had since I lived in Cali. I get one at least once a week. And the 2 Al pastor Tacos on the side were on point.

    This place competes with Chungas in the al pastor category, which says a lot on its own, but unlike Chungas it has better facilities and a much wider menu, making this my current go-to Mexican joint, and an easy crowd pleaser when I have a mixture of picky and adventurous eaters in tow. However, it leans towards authentic, and there is plenty of heat in some of the sauces...so warn the wusses in your group. However, most don't mind the heat either way, as they have a delicious drink called the cantarito; otherwise known as the best summertime drink (for the above 21s) yet invented.

    stopped in for a quick lunch of tacos rice and beans (#4) al pastor will great, carnitas very good, rice good, beans just ok. the salsas were terrific. they brought out a warm salsa w/ the chips and I could have drank it by the gallon full it was so good. will go back

    I have lived in the neighborhood for 20 years and heard good things about this place since it opened. So I thought I'd give it a try. This was late afternoon, well after lunch time but not yet dinner time back in late May or early June. There was no one there. I don't mean customers. I could not find an employee. We waited about 10 minutes, the amount of time we figured a long, luxurious smoke break could take and still no one. So we left, a bit confused and very disappointed. I may try them again if I happen to take the dog on a long walk that direction but it's definitely not on my priority list.

    So this was the second time I came in here. Sadly don't remember what I had the first time but they have a great salsa bar with many options. So this time my wife ordered the tostadas ceviche con pescado, don't ever order this crap it was canned tuna fish with some chopped veggies in it. My wife was so hungry that she drowned it in salsa just to eat some of it, it smelled up the table with that distinct canned tuna smell very disturbing I have never seen or heard of anyone serving ceviche like that! I had the enchilada and stuffed pepper combo. Hard to mess up you might think but the sauce was so bland It was impossible to use enough salsa to make alright disappointed yes but the ceviche said to me that I have no need to ever try this place again. So sad because Mexican food is my favorite.

    The food is good and it has a nice salsa bar. I would give this place more stars but after going there a few times then going with my hispanic friends who speak spanish I found out they have 2 different menus. A spanish menu and a english menu. Nothing out of the ordinary here right??? Well, the only problem is the prices on the english menu are higher then the spanish menu for the same dish. I find this unethical and will now be going back.

    I from San Diego and I love tacos!!! These tacos are the real deal I especially love the Carnitas moist and Crispy be just like I like them!!! Have a beautiful salsa bar. The only thing I really didn't like where the chips they served at the beginning. If you're from the West Coast in your thinking where do I get good Mexican food this is where you do it!!!

    Dropping a star. Prices have increased. Stopped in for breakfast this morning and the huevos ala mexicana were cooked differently than in the past. I prefer the former style . Still love the condiments bar. Some of the salsas have a nice kick.

    I recently moved to the west side, so now I'm on a mission to investigate the various Mexican food options that are just a short walk from my house. We'd heard lots of good things about Tacos Daniel, so my husband and I headed over here for lunch one afternoon. I saw caldo de res on the menu. When I see caldo de res, I must order it. I got a lengua taco on the side because of course I did. My husband ordered the camarones a la diabla because he loves things a la diabla and they're supposed to specialize in seafood here. While we waited we enjoyed a few of the delicious salsas from the salsa bar. The creamy green one was my favorite. Nice and spicy. The food arrived and it was all solid, but I have to say I've had better renditions of all the dishes we had at other Mexican restaurants in SLC. The caldo had generous chunks of beef, but the broth was initially a bit bland and tasted too much of celery. A bit of salt and hot pepper flakes made it shine. My lengua taco was also good but lacking flavor. The same can also be said of the camarones, which did not seem to be particularly of the devil. We should probably ask them to make things spicy for us next time. We can handle it. The price is right and given the proximity of this place I'll likely be back. Maybe we ordered the wrong things this time.

    After quite awhile I came back again. I am really not sure why I gave it a 5-star review at one time. The food is pretty good, but is not fantastic. It seems the portion sizes are smaller than what they were a few years ago. That might not truly be the case, but it just seems that they were bigger a few years ago. Also, I had a chicken burrito, and the chicken wasn't very good. It was either low quality chicken, overcooked, or both. The salsas are still pretty good - I will give them credit for that since many of the Mexican places nearby give you a small cup of salsa and that is it. This place has a decent salsa bar where you can have as much as you want with good choices and variety. Still a good place to eat Mexican, but nothing out of this world.

    OK, I went back the day after my first visit and ordered the same thing for breakfast (they open at 9am). It was good, don't get me wrong, but I am gonna give them four stars as the meal wasn't quite as good as the day before.

    I love this place and go regularly for lunch. Now they have a salsa bar with all kinds of fixins. You can't beat the dollar tacos, especially the pastor and asada. Sometimes I get the Posole, which hits the spot when you need something to warm you up. You get a big bowl for the price. The chile verde plate and mixed fajitas are big enough to share and quite tasty. The location is a little seedy but that just adds to the adventure.
